Borgo La Pietraia is a family friendly, agritourism hotel in Capaccio-Paestum, South Campania. A pretty and modern designer agritourismin an amazing location.
Only about 20 minutes to sandy beaches and less than that to Paestum’s magnificent Ancient Greek temples, the agritourism Borgo La Pietraia seems a world away from everything. Backed by the craggy mountains of the Cilento National Park and sitting at the top of a hill, high above the plain of Paestum, it would be difficult to find a more impressive view in South Campania. The sea sparkles in the distance and the vista opens out into a gloriously wide, open panorama, which takes your breath away.
A local builder, born in Capaccio village, and his architect friend, who lectures at Naples University, had a dream. They wanted to take a slice of their beloved countryside of South Campania and build something hidden into the hillside, with stunning views, lots of character and stylish accommodation. They succeeded! The countryside agritourism Borgo La Pietraia’s low buildings are made of local natural stone and they curve into the hill, only occasionally attracting your eye with a wonderful splash of colour. They got it absolutely right and they have created a lovely small family friendlyagriturismo which we all love here at Long Travel.
Rooms at Borgo La Pietraiaare housed in short, one-storey, curving terraces and the Junior Suites are Long Travel favourites. In places, a chintzy country house feel blends with a high standard, more minimalist, modern designer style. The resulting effect is not luxurious, but supremely comfortable, with characterful and stylish elegance, perfect for a family holiday. Most rooms have sea-facing terraces and floor to ceiling glass doors to capitalise on the vista – that blue sparkling ribbon of sea on the horizon is inescapable. From almost everywhere, you get at least a glimpse of the sea and the breakfast and dining terrace of the Borgo La Pietraia, just below the Junior Suites, makes the most of the amazing views. The breakfast-come -dining-room is a total culmination of all of the hues used elsewhere – blue walls, and chairs in joyfully bright primary colours. The restaurant is usually open in all but low season and Long Travel guests choose dinner from a set menu given at breakfast or sometimes there is a fixed menu.
The family friendly Borgo La Pietraia’s poolsits on an elevated terrace behind and above the main building and has uninterrupted spectacular views. The grounds are a dream, beautifully landscaped with lavender, roses, Mediterranean and sub-tropical plants and majestic olive trees. There is even a jogging path around the garden – just in case you get bored of utter relaxation!
