Less than half an hour from Lecce and just over 20 minutes from Otranto, Borgo Naturalis is perfectly placed for exploring Puglia’s Salento.

Boutique Naturalis, an eighteenth-century hamlet or borgo, is now a “Bioresort”, a small boutique agritourist hotel, which capitalises on nature and organics. Naturalis Bio Resort and Spa ’ setting is unique, a rural landscape with fields of lavender, rosemary, aloe, vines, citrus and olive trees. The 13 hectares of farmland are farmed to produce a huge range of organic cosmetics, which are supplied all over the world. The owner loves his cosmetics business, but Naturalis Bio Resort and Spa is his real passion and he is extremely proud of his creation.

Ancient blends effortlessly with modern facilities at the Naturalis Bio Resort. Pale terracotta walls, paintwork lightly washed with grey and green, masses of local stone on floors and walls, all paint a sublime picture of rustic luxury. Nowadays, couples have the luxury of a spacious double room, but, in times gone by, these housed whole families. Each room leads directly out onto its own part of the terrace, a perfect place for romantic alfresco relaxing. The furnishings in Naturalis Bio Resort and Spa are mostly antique with iron and brass beds and wooden furniture showing the lovely patina of age. Needless to say, the organic toiletries in the shower rooms are as homegrown as you can get and fabulous for the skin.

The gardens of, lawns and terraces are sheer delight. The pool is magnificent and romantic. The intimate spa is a dream. Reserved only for Long Travel guests when you book it, the water circuit, emotional shower, plunge pool with jacuzzi and steam room make it the perfect place to while away the time and wash away every trace of the daily grind – a place where the body and the soul can relax. Your biggest problem will be that you never want to leave it!

Everything is done with nature in mind at Borgo Naturalis. Not only does Naturalis Bio Resort and Spa bombard your senses with nature’s perfumes and colours, but it also serves up the traditional Salento and Southern Italian cuisine. The food and wine are excellent, from the delicate breakfasts to the more elaborate four-course dinners. Exquisitely flavoursome, the traditional recipes, local ingredients and home-grown produce combine to present unforgettable meals for guests.

The room was lovely, great size deluxe room, bathroom was also a good size with changing lights in the shower. They even had eucalyptus oil on the pillows to help you sleep, not that this was needed as the bed was very comfy!! Rachel & Ian, Bristol
