Casale Del Murgese is a family friendly, agritourism hotel in the countryside of Savelletri in Puglia. In an area replete with wonderful Masseria hotels, Casale Del Murgese is a great alternative to the other fancy five and four-star hotels nearby.
Casale Del Murgese is in a rural setting, which could not be more Pugliese. It sits in what feels like a park, with secular olive trees, typical Mediterranean gardens, dry stone walls and green lawns. Its grounds are truly vast and Long Travel guests can thoroughly enjoy the luxury of so much space and lush greenery. The phenomenal infinity swimming pool really does seem to go on forever. Surrounded by grassy relaxing areas with gazebos and sunbeds, it is the perfect place to relax, especially as it’s only a short saunter to the poolside bar, where snacks, light lunches, cocktails and refreshing drinks are served – all far too tempting for your own good!
Capitalising on the masses of space, the structure of Casale Del Murgese hotel is unobtrusive. The masseria-style “vecchio Casale”, the old manor house, accommodates the suites and the lovely star-vaulted restaurant. The restaurant at Casale Del Murgese is pretty impressive, with stone floors, a baronial fireplace and doors which spill onto the dining terraces, which are utilised for breakfast and dinner in summer. The food is typically Pugliese and Mediterranean, often served with a modern twist.
If you don’t want a fancy five-star masseria, Casale Del Murgese hotel is a really great alternative and you will be surprised at how much space you have. Don’t underestimate it – it’s absolutely delightful, especially for families.
Savelletri, about 4km from Casale Del Murgese, still retains its quaintness and us here at Long Travel really like it. A small fishing town with a picturesque harbour, boats bring in their catch every day and fresh fish is sold on the quay – the earlier you get there to buy, the fresher the fish. Friendly bars and ice-cream parlours are strung out near the harbour and it is a delightful place to saunter around, day or night. From Savelletri, head north along the coast towards Monopoli or south towards the small resort of Torre Canne. Along the way, you will find a beach to suit everyone. Close to Savelletri and Monopoli, a rocky coastline offers small sandy inlets and coves. Southwards you will reach the long sweeping bay of Torre Canne and great expanses of golden sandy beach. Whichever direction you choose, the sea is always the same – turquoise and crystalline. If beaches aren’t your thing then Casale Del Murgese is also perfect for visiting the famous trulli of Puglia. The white town of Ostuni, the delightful towns of Cisternino and Locorotondo and the unique trulli town of Alberobello are all within a half hour’s drive. Do some designer shopping in wealthy Fasano, less than ten minutes away, or play some golf at one of the nearby golf courses. You will be spoilt for choice.
