The beach Hotel Gabbiano is fresher than fresh fish, right by the sea with great views over the Acquafredda Di Maratea.

Close to the small village of Acquafredda, and really tucked into the Basilicata coastline, the delightful family-run Hotel Gabbiano is in a splendid location, nestling into the curve of its own bay, right by the sea and backed by cliffs. You could probably tuck Positano into this bay and it would attract thousands of visitors. Instead, relatively few find this hidden coastline and it is a real treat. The beach is shingly and lovely. The sea is wonderful and crystal clear.

Quite Mediterranean in style, the family Hotel Gabbiano rooms are bright, modern and functional. There is a comfortable bar area, with a shaded terrace and the dining room overlooks the sea. Pretty gardens stretch along the beach, to the beautiful swimming pool, creating a private oasis of greenery, pool and ocean.

Hotel Gabbiano's owner's roots are Calabrian making the cuisine a wonderful mix of what is best in Basilicata, with a hint of Calabria. The food is genuine, traditional and wholesome, based on the very best fresh ingredients. The menu features fresh fish – so fresh that it is delivered by a faithful group of fishermen, right to the family Hotel Gabbiano’s door, in fact, you may see them delivering their catch. The menu will offer what is fresh, whatever has arrived direct from the boat to the kitchen – if it isn’t caught fresh that day, you don’t get it! No wonder it’s so good and here at Long Travel we never forget the delicious dishes we ate at the Hotel Gabbiano.
