Hotel Monte Tauro is a luxury hotel in Taormina in Sicily, boasting unique character and charm.
Contemporary and quality with stupendous uninterrupted sea views Monte Tauro is most impressive. We love Monte Tauro’s incredible building, the amazing views and the fabulous breakfast.
Ingeniously, built into the cliff face, and with uninterrupted views of the sea, Monte Tauro’s location is truly spectacular. Its organic form seems to hang from the cliff, and the terraces echo its contours and the curves of the coast below. Only the corridors are at the back so that rooms profit from the views.
Young designers have given the Monte Tauro a young, vibrant touch and a contemporary style, with every detail being considered, right down to the espresso cups. A clever use of glass creates light and the interior, with natural colours and wood, has a very bright feel. The elegant reception area, with modern furnishings, is different and stylish. The beautiful bar is adorned with lovely paintings. The stunning pool, with its unusual mosaic sun terraces, seems to hang in mid-air. The Grill bar, close by, serves delicious light lunches and snacks. The à la carte restaurant serves excellent Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine and a superb breakfast.
The Monte Tauro bedrooms all have sea views, and are comfortable and light, with very modern bathrooms. Each room has a terrace or balcony, with an attractive slatted wooden deck, giving a nautical feel.
Close to Taormina’s centre, approximately 400m from its main shopping street, the Monte Tauro is approached down a very steep driveway. A bit of a bare-knuckle ride, the hotel will park your car (or deliver it to the top). Then just stroll into town.

“The hotel was perfect and I don’t think we could fault anything at all. Etna, the Greek theatre, Taormina itself an especially the Monte Tauro were all perfect. The USP of the hotel was that it was a totter into town for shops, restaurants and sights (including the many brides parading up and down of an evening!) and yet once inside the hotel it was absolutely quiet and calm with that unbroken view of the sea.
