Locanda Don Serafino boasts incredible food. This boutique hotel in the heart of enchanting Ragusa Ibla in Sicily is a great choice for holiday makers. No run-of-the-mill hotel, this small & quirky B&B has made an ingenious use of space and is full of character and atmosphere.
Clinging to a steep ravine, the breathtaking higgledy-piggledy jumble of Ragusa Ibla, teeming with Baroque jewels and Michelin stars, is a gourmet paradise, especially Locanda Don Serafino’s 2 Michelin star restaurant, not far from the hotel.
Nowadays, apart from the Baroque, Ragusa is well known for its gourmet food. There are two restaurants in Ragusa Ibla with two Michelin stars, which is quite something for a small town, especially in Sicily. Actually, needless to say, the usual trattorie and typical restaurants are superb too, because local cuisine is so delicious, but, if you are looking for a “gourmet” break, Ragusa will fit the bill for you. Locanda Don Serafino’s restaurant is actually our favourite at Long Travel. You don’t need to worry that it’s all fuss and no flavour – with Ragusan cuisine and seasonality as its inspiration, the dishes served at Locanda Don Serafino are flavoursome and inspired, worth every penny.
Hotel Locanda Don Serafino, in one of the narrow streets in the heart of historic Ibla (about a 10-minute walk from the restaurant - 15 minutes on the way back!), is a type of “albergodiffuso”. A typical stone house and adjoining cottages are entered immediately off the street and provide guests with unusual, even quirky, accommodation. This is no normal Sicilian hotel.
Stunning “Blue Flag” beaches at Marina di Ragusa and along the south east coast are less than half an hour’s drive. Apart from the famous Locanda Don Serafino restaurant in Ragusa Ibla, the hotel has a beachfront restaurant. Talking of beachfronts, the lido in in Marina di Ragusa, which is about 25km away and has a long beach of fine golden sand. The Lido Azzurro restaurant is very tempting, with its delicious salads, pastas and freshest of fresh fish. It is the perfect place for a day at the beach, with a long, lazy lunch, or for a romantic dinner to the sound of the waves. Whichever you choose, Locanda Don Serafino’s guests are always particularly welcome, of course.

Rock barrel ceilings, bathroom large with rock walls, floor had area covered in glass/acrylic that looked down at ruins under room. Tony helped with bags, parked our car, and gave great directions to the Ragusa Marina beach and beach club. He was a character who added so much to the whole experience. The other staff members also very welcoming and helpful. Nice common area with internet available. Breakfast had plenty of options. The experience of staying at Locanda Don Serafina clearly worth the trip to Ragusa. – Killian, Cleveland
