There is so much to explore on the beautiful island of Sicily and this wonderful self-drive holiday, staying in some of our favourite hotels allows you to do it all in one fun-packed holiday.
You can delve into the charming town of Modica and sample the fascinating chilli chocolate. Explore the beautiful countryside with its national parks and visit the Planeta vineyards, Agrigento and Marsala. Of course, you can’t miss one of Sicily’s most famous experiences, the walk up to imposing Mount Etna...
Here’s our suggestion for a fantastic multi-centre holiday in Sicily, but don’t forget that we tailor our arrangements to suit you, so if you want to stay for longer or choose a different hotel just ask our holiday experts.
Fly into Catania Airport. Flights are available from many UK airports. Stay four nights at Villa Del Lauro, a designer boutique B&B right in the heart of Ragusa Superior. Spend the next couple of days exploring the quaint and historical hilltop town of Ragusa and soak up its charm and character. Delve into the beautiful and dramatic baroque town of Modica, where you will be in awe of churches which dominate the skyline and of fascinating architecture. Don't forget to sample the famous chilli chocolate which is created using an old Aztec recipe.
Drive to La Foresteria, an utterly amazing countryside hotel in Menfi, in an elevated spot surrounded by vineyards. En route to this gracious Sicilian farmhouse, take the time for a short diversion via Piazza Armerina to see the famous mosaics and enjoy a fabulous lunch. Stay at La Foresteria for three fantastic nights, and fully indulge in the heavenly cuisine. Spend the sun-kissed days exploring the Planeta vineyards, Agrigento and Marsala, an ancient seaside town known for its ruins.
Drive to the beautiful hotel Santa Anastasia, which still maintains parts of its 12th century heritage. This agriturismo property, sits perfectly between the pretty, coastal town of Cefalu, and the medieval town of Castelbuono. Uncover these beautiful areas during your stay, but make sure you schedule a visit to the Madonie National Park, which lends itself perfectly to walking and hiking.
Spend the last four nights of your multi-centre itinerary in Sicily's north east corner, near Taormina, a pretty town sitting hundreds of metres above the glistening turquoise sea. Away from the hustle & bustle you’ll stay in Donna Carmela, which guarantees chic style and elegance, an extensive wine list and typical Sicilian hospitality, all with a mindblowing backdrop of Mount Etna. Laze the days away by the poolside surrounded by all the colours and scents from the gardens or roll up your sleeves for a scenic walk up Mount Etna – the choice is completely yours.
