Sestri Levante
Sestri Levante is a beautiful little town at the Ligurian Riviera approximately halfway between Genoa and La Spezia. With Portofino and the Cinque Terre both within a short train journey away it’s an excellent base to explore the delights of Liguria.
This once quiet fishing village is becoming more popular with tourists and it's obvious to see why! With a great selection of bars and restaurants, 2 beautiful bays, the petite town size, extremely mild climate and its picturesque landscapes - you will have lots of fun exploring.
The original part of Sestri Levante is actually on a peninsula, with the beautiful Baia del Silenzio - the bay of silence - on one side and Baia delle Favole - the bay of the fables - on the other. These two bays were named in honour of the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in Sestri for a short time. Between the two bays and the isthmus there is the historical city centre, whilst the more modern part occupies the plane that stretches between the sea and the hinterland hills.
